Designer in the spotlight: Alannah Hill
Alannah Hill has been an inspiration to me and my work. Today she is one of Australia’s leading designers with her Girly Chic vintage inspired label. She began her fashion label in 1996. However, Her first boutique was opened in 1997.
“I landed in Melbourne from Tasmania at 17, with six suit cases and $50, $30 of which went on the taxi to the city. I didn’t know one single person and not one single person knew me. I was quite hyperactive and did anything anybody asked of me. I was fearless, brave, but frightened”.
Waitressing in Melbourne, Her fashion sense caught an eye of a Fashion Store owner in Chapel St. After working there for 15 years, she decided to bless us with her brilliant designs.
12 years ago, she initiated her signature fashion label and currently has a dozen boutiques in Australia. Alannah Hill label is also distributed in Britain, & Asia.
