Vintage fashion

Okay so I was looking into vintage clothes because I am in desperate need for a coat, and well, I only like vintage coats. So as I was looking through I found the most amazing Tulle Double-breasted coat. White with black buttons and I am in love. However it was a $4000 coat which I most probably will not wear next winter. 2 winters ago I bought the most gorgeous Dolce & Gabanna coat, and I no longer wear it because last winter I bought a new one.

So while I was searching for a coat I threw in a cocktail dress while I was at it. Vintage dresses are probably my favorite, because what can a girl hate more than going to a party and seeing another girl wearing the same dress. Unless you make your own dresses, but while I was at it I looked through dresses. You will not believe the most amazing and unique cocktail dresses in the world. So I decided to make my first post about them.

Vintage style is now found in stores a lot, such as dresses and coats. So why would I want to spend tons of money on actual vintage clothes? Because they are unique, I highly doubt you can find more than 2 of the same 1940’s Balmain Ivoire Dress. Speaking of Balmain Ivoire here is a dress which I really loved, these are all for fancy occasions, but that was the whole point:

I am so in love with this taffeta cocktail dress. The gathered detail and asymmetrical waistline had me at ‘hello’. Personally I think this dress is genius. If I could I would have bought it without even looking at the size, id be happy knowing it was in my closet. I actually really was going to do this, but it’s a $2500 dollar dress, if I was actually thinking at that second other than how amazing it was id say it was above $3000 dress.

Going on to the next one. Kari Lagerfield, in the 80’s designed a mini black chiffon and satin ruffle dress. Now a lot of people wouldn’t wear it and I was thinking about whether or not to put it on here, because I was debating whether I would wear it or not. I’m still debating, but we’ll see. Here it is dolls.

I think it is cute. You have to be crazy skinny to wear it though otherwise you’ll look like a chicken with de-feathered wings. It has a inner corset style bodice, which is great I think all cocktail dresses even nowadays should have a inner corset style bodice. I think corsets are genius when it comes to dresses. Oh and I love the rosette at center bust. A lot of people wouldn’t dare to wear it. Fashion chickens anyone?

On to the next…

I really like this dress. I usually love sweetheart busts, it makes breasts look out-of-this-world [I meant mine, im straight]. I’m not so much a rouched dresses kind of girl [I would be if I was crazy skinny] but I think this 80’s dress is totally cute. It isn’t a designer dress and unlike the others it is a $275 dollar dress which is cheap nowadays you can get a BCBG dress for $275, so yes it’s cheap. Again, for a rouched dress you need to be crazy skinny. I saw a girl wearing a ruched dress once, she wasn’t fat but she was wide and it was just.. well, no no. Im all against super skinny, but if you aren’t then don’t wear dresses that don’t suit your body.

Ungaro. Now Ungaro isn’t my favorite but I saw this hot pink dress, which I think I would wear it in hot pink but I would like it better if it was in a different color, but its good to change once in a while.

Again, an 80’s dress completely rouched. The skirt hem is a flounce balloon hem, which I really love, and then the oversized rose like gathering which I love even more, and it has multiple under layering. So things aren’t seen hanging out. I really love the originality & creativity Ungaro put into this one. I would totally wear it.

To end this post [which will be continued later on possibly tomorrow], have you ever seen Dorian Leigh [the model] in the really GORGEOUS black dress that none of us have anywhere to wear it to? Well, Dorian modeled some pretty amazing dresses and complemented luxurious 1950’s fashions. Here is the dress:
