Audrey Hepburn & Vintage Wedding Gowns
I am officially transferring.
On November 4th, I attended Tom’s sister’s wedding in Vegas which was pretty amazing. She wore her Mother’s Wedding dress which In my opinion was if truth be told was special.
[I will put on a pic where you can see the whole dress as soon as i get them!]
It was a simple white with a vintage feel and a lace top. A few weeks ago I was assigned to design a wedding dress. I only wish I saw this dress sooner, it made a lot of ideas pop up in my head. So guess what the post is about today? You got it. Vintage wedding dresses! You love me.
My favorite fashion role model Audrey Hepburn has probably posed with my dream dress!
Designed by:
The genius Costumier Edith Head. She was actually the main designer of the whole movie Sabrina. This dress is hand-embroidered and I cannot imagine how long it took to hand embroider such a large dress. I know that a Givenchy atelier replica was made in 1992. An additional replica was made in 2000 for the Audrey Hepburn Story was made for Jennifer Love Hewitt was made:
None of the replicas have ever been as genius as Head’s work. However, my wedding dress will be! (*wink*)
There are many dresses Audrey wore that were then ballgowns. Now, perfect for wedding dresses. Such as the following.
The thing with “actual” vintage wedding gowns, is the sleeves. Many wedding gowns either do not look like wedding gowns or they have these hideous sleeves put on them.I am not saying that you cannot find nice ones.
I definitely prefer vintage inspired gowns such as this Reem Acra Vintage inspired wedding gown:
Beautifully designed dress. Enchanting Romantic 19th century feel wedding gown, Or how about this Nobelest Wedding gown:
I love the Chapel train on this beauty of a bridal gown, i was breath taken. Stunning embroidery and beads embellished.
One of my favourite designers; Fabio Gritti has the most beautiful wedding gowns. I am not one hundred percent sure they are vintage inspired but they definitely have the look and feel but with a twist. Here are a few:
Not all his gowns are vintage inspired but they sure are an inspiration. Vera Wang also has beautiful dresses. However, she is not the first designer i would look into for a wedding dress. However if you are looking for a simple dres, she designs the most beautiful simple dresses you will ever see. Sometimes she comes up with insane (in the good way) wedding gowns.
If you want something completely different, this Vera Wang piece is beautiful:

“Designed by: The genius Costumier Edith Head. She was actually the main designer of the whole movie Sabrina….”
Edith Head was the main designer of Sabrina, however, she did not design three dresses. Hepburn visited Hubert de Givenchy, a French designer, to see if he would design her wardrobe. He did not have the time, but instead allowed her to have a look at last season’s fashions and take ones off the rack. She selected three outfits-the red cocktail dress she wears on her play date with Bogart, the skinny suit she wears at the train station, and, finally, this wonderful dress.
Givenchy was not credited in Sabrina as a designer, which mortified Hepburn, but eventually led to him being her main costumer in years to come.
Quick note: The ball gown from Sabrina was actually designed by Givenchy. The suit that she wears at the train station when she re-meets David, and the dress when she goes out with Linus were also designed by him. Edith Head was the costume designer but Billy Wilder didn’t feel that her costumes have the Parisian feel that Audrey’s character needed. When the film was released Givenchy was not credited and Audrey was pissed (in her very classy Audrey way) Not being nit-picky I just love Audrey and Givenchy
hey can someone tell me where i can order this dress?? I really love it.
